Within the creative depths of Oslo, Norway, you will find the artist and music producer Mörmaid. Drawing inspiration from luminaries such as Grimes, Röyksopp, SOPHIE, Burial, Kelly Lee Owens, and Arca, she weaves a rich tapestry of sound that is as innovative as it is evocative.

Mörmaid’s musical journey spans an eclectic soundscape, seamlessly blending the unbridled improvisations of free jazz with the driving pulse of techno, the dreamlike allure of ethereal pop with the audacious experimentation of hyperpop. Her work is characterised by a hypnotic palette — simultaneously delicate and commanding, haunting yet dance inducing — a unique fusion of accessibility and avant-garde.

Her debut EP, ‘No Sharp Edges’ (2020), marked the beginning of her artistic evolution, with standout tracks like “Turn Away” and “G.R.B” earning acclaim from Norway’s NRK P3. Since then, she has captivated audiences at renowned festivals such as by:Larm, Øya and Trondheim Calling. In 2022, she signed with the UK-based Beat Palace Records, releasing her critically lauded second EP, ‘Push Pull’. Her music has been featured extensively on platforms like BBC Radio and NRK P3, and her visually striking and haunting music video for “Wet Summer” has amassed over 280,000 views on YouTube. Her work has also been spotlighted in leading music publications, including Sound on Sound and Electronic Music Magazine.
